About STL Home Pros

An independent local directory connecting St. Louis area homeowners with HVAC, plumbing, and foundation contractors. Here is exactly who we are and how this site works.

    Who We Are

STL Home Pros is an independently operated online directory focused on the St. Louis metropolitan area. We are not a contractor, a franchise, or a national lead-generation network. We do not employ the professionals listed here, and we do not perform any home service work ourselves.

The site is run by a small local team that researches, publishes, and maintains contractor listings and homeowner guides for the St. Louis region. Our focus is deliberately narrow: three trade categories that account for the most urgent and most expensive home repairs in this market.

    Why This Site Was Created

Finding a reliable contractor in St. Louis often means wading through national directories where listings are outdated, reviews are thin, and your contact information is sold to multiple companies the moment you fill out a form. We built STL Home Pros to offer a local alternative: a directory where listings are specific to this region, business profiles carry real detail, and homeowners can research common problems before spending a dollar.

St. Louis homes face particular challenges — expansive clay soil that stresses foundations, humid summers that strain cooling systems, and freeze-thaw winters that burst pipes. Generic national advice often misses these local realities, so we pair the directory with guides written specifically for homes in this climate and housing stock.

    Geographic Area Served

The directory covers the greater St. Louis metro on the Missouri side, with an emphasis on St. Charles County and western St. Louis County. Listed communities include St. Louis, St. Charles, Wentzville, O'Fallon, St. Peters, Chesterfield, Lake Saint Louis, Cottleville, and surrounding areas. Individual contractors set their own service areas, which are shown on their profiles.

    How Professionals Are Added

Listings are compiled from publicly available business information and from details submitted directly by the businesses. Every listing is reviewed before publication, and duplicate entries are removed. Businesses can claim their profile to update their own details, add photos, and keep information accurate. A claimed profile is labeled as confirmed by the business — it means the business has verified its own information, not that we have independently audited its credentials.

Any business can request corrections or removal through our contact page, and homeowners can report inaccurate listings the same way. We do not independently verify licenses, insurance, or background checks, and we always recommend homeowners confirm credentials directly with the contractor and, where applicable, with the relevant Missouri or municipal licensing authority.

    Free and Paid Listings

Basic listings are free. Any legitimate local contractor can be listed at no cost, and a free listing includes the business profile, services, service area, and customer reviews.

Contractors may optionally subscribe to paid tiers that add features such as enhanced profile placement, priority inclusion in quote-request distribution, and additional profile content. Paid status is one of several factors in how listings are ordered, alongside profile completeness, ratings, and responsiveness. Payment never removes negative reviews, changes a rating, or guarantees a top position regardless of quality.

    How Reviews Work

Review summaries shown on profiles come from two sources, and each is labeled: first-party reviews submitted through this site by homeowners, and imported review data from public sources such as Google, shown with attribution. First-party reviews are moderated before publication.

We do not edit the substance of reviews, and contractors cannot pay to remove or suppress negative feedback. Homeowners and businesses alike can report a review they believe violates our guidelines, and we investigate those reports.

How Quote Requests and Leads Work

When you submit a quote request, the details you provide are shared with contractors in our directory who match your service type and location, so they can contact you with an estimate. Quote requests are one of the ways this site is monetized: participating professionals may pay for access to leads or for a subscription that includes lead distribution.

We limit how many contractors receive each request and we do not sell your information to unrelated third parties. The hiring decision — and any contract — is always between you and the contractor. We encourage getting multiple written estimates before committing to any work.

How Our Editorial Content Is Produced

Our homeowner guides are researched and written for the St. Louis market specifically. Topics are chosen from the questions local homeowners actually face — furnace repair versus replacement, foundation settling in Missouri clay, frozen pipe prevention, and similar subjects. Cost ranges in our guides reflect typical market pricing for the region and are reviewed periodically.

Editorial content is independent of paid listings. Contractors cannot pay to be recommended in a guide, and guide topics are not sold as sponsorships. Where a guide references a service, we link to the relevant directory category so you can compare multiple pros rather than promoting a single company.
